Luigi Quattrocchi

Luigi Beltrame Quattrocchi was born on January 12, 1880, in Catania, Italy, to Carlo and Francesca Beltrame Vita. The surname "Quattrocchi" was added after he was adopted by his childless aunt and uncle, Stefania and Luigi Quattrocchi, though he maintained close ties with his birth parents. In 1892, his family moved to Rome, where Luigi pursued legal studies at La Sapienza University, earning his degree in 1902. He subsequently embarked on a career as an attorney and civil servant, demonstrating a commitment to justice and public service.

On November 25, 1905, Luigi married Maria Corsini in Rome. Together, they raised four children: Filippo, Stefania, Cesare, and Enrichetta. Their family life was marked by deep faith and active engagement in social causes. During World War II, their home became a refuge for those persecuted by the regime, including Jewish individuals. Luigi's refusal to join the Fascist Party hindered his professional advancement, but he remained steadfast in his principles.

Luigi passed away from a heart attack on November 9, 1951, in Rome. His unwavering faith and dedication to family and community led to his beatification alongside his wife, Maria, by Pope John Paul II on October 21, 2001—the first time a married couple was beatified together. Their joint feast day is celebrated on November 25, their wedding anniversary.
