Paquita Alvira

Paquita Domínguez Susín was born on April 1, 1912, in Borau, Huesca, Spain. She pursued a career in education, working as a high school teacher during the tumultuous years of the Spanish Civil War. On June 16, 1939, she married Tomás Alvira in Zaragoza. The couple had nine children, though their firstborn, Jose Maria, tragically passed away at the age of five.

In November 1941, the Alvira family relocated to Madrid, where Tomás accepted a teaching position at the Natural Science Institute. Paquita dedicated herself to creating a nurturing and faith-filled home environment, embodying the spirit of Opus Dei, which they both joined—Tomás in 1947 and Paquita in 1952. Their household became a beacon of Christian life and marriage, exemplifying the "bright and cheerful home" that St. Josemaría Escrivá often spoke of.

Paquita passed away on August 29, 1994, in Madrid. Recognizing their exemplary lives, the Archdiocese of Madrid opened causes for their canonization, highlighting their dedication to faith, family, and the values of Opus Dei.
