Anne de Guigné

Anne de Guigné was a French girl known for her remarkable piety and transformation of heart at a young age. Born in 1911 to a noble family, she was initially strong-willed and somewhat difficult as a child. However, after the death of her father in World War I, she experienced a profound change, dedicating herself to a life of obedience, kindness, and devotion to God. She was particularly known for her deep love of the Eucharist, which she received at an unusually young age for her time.

Despite her young age, Anne lived a life of extraordinary virtue, offering small sacrifices and acts of charity for the love of God and others. She developed a strong prayer life and was an inspiration to her family, classmates, and even adults who were moved by her faith. By the age of nine, she fell seriously ill with meningitis but continued to endure her suffering with patience and trust in God. She remained serene and prayerful until the end, offering her pain for the salvation of souls.

Anne de Guigné passed away in 1922 at just ten years old, leaving behind a powerful example of holiness. Her reputation for sanctity spread quickly, leading to the opening of her cause for beatification in 1932. In 1990, Pope John Paul II declared her Venerable.
