Renzo Buricchi

Renzo Pietro Buricchi (1913–1993) was an Italian layperson known for his deep spirituality and dedication to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Born on January 21, 1913, in Seano, a village near Prato, Italy, he grew up in a farming family and left formal education after the third grade. Despite limited schooling, Buricchi developed a profound appreciation for nature and its creatures, which later influenced his spiritual journey.

At eighteen, Buricchi began working at his uncle's bar in Prato's town square. During his military service in Bologna, he explored various philosophies, including Eastern traditions, before immersing himself in the Gospels and the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. This period marked a significant transformation, deepening his commitment to Christian spirituality. Upon returning to Prato, he married Misora, with whom he had a daughter, Mariapia. His fervent discussions about Jesus and the Gospel led to his expulsion from the Italian Communist Party, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his faith.
